With the start new seasons come the start of new trends. In this post I discuss my favourite AW13 trends, in particular my favourite pattern, colour and print for the foreseeable months.

Pale powdery pinks are everywhere this season and luckily for us Irish these shades suit most Irish skin tones. As well as the pasty pinks, there has been a lot of mixing and matching of various varieties of pink, as seen by J Crew and Simone Rocha. Pink is always a great colour to experiment with especially if you are looking for something a bit more genteel and timeless.

I modeled my interpretation of this seasons pinks on that of J Crew- patterned pants, pink knit and pale pink coat, with metallic shoes offsetting the diamante details on the coat and bag. Metallics work great with powder pink!

The world was given a little indication back in SS13 as to what patterns we should look out for this winter. The MET Gala saw Tommy Hilfiger, amongst others, donning tartan and since then this pattern has appeared on many catwalks, including Moschino and Stella McCartney. There are so many ways of wearing this design without worrying about any possible resemblance of Britney Spears in THAT schoolgirl music video!

I chose to add a "grungey" edge to my tartan skirt, but rather than committing to one theme (and in keeping with the popular trend of mixing themes and textures) I pulled back the balance by adding a classic fedora hat and an elegant emerald bag.

If you want to have a go at replicating my look or indeed want to experiment with the tartan/plaid pattern, I have included some options available to buy at Oasis:

Favourite Print

Animal print is back with a vengeance this season! It takes the form of all sorts of textures with the most vivacious of these being the leopard print fur! As seen on D&G, DKNY and Burberry sophisticated animal print is no longer unattainable.

I recommend choosing one statement piece of animal print, as I did with this leopard coat, and keeping everything else in the outfit minimal and neutral.

Oasis have a great selection of animal print in store now:
